150 000 cubic meters fresh snow was pulled down from "Tomba" slope in Bansko ski centre

The next 5 days, the sport world will observe Bulgaria, as Bansko’s Banderitza ski run will host the FIS World Cup Ladies’ races in less than a week (February 27 – March 1, 2009). The budget for the competition is 3,5 million BGN and 200 persons work hard to supply excellent snow cover on the ski trails for the biggest sport event in Bulgaria for 2009.

Last weekend VisitBulgaria.NET team was invited to visit Redenka Golf and Ski Club near Bansko. The weather was fine and the last warm sun rays did not left us during entire diverting experience.

We left Sofia on Friday morning and after two hours of driving we reached Redenka Golf and Ski Club. We were there just in lunch time and the national cuisine of Ethno restaurant was exactly what we needed after travelling.

Well, it was -20° C, the altitude was about 2300 m and the event was the tenth round of Burton Amateur Tour for the winter season 2007-2008. The competition took place in the Fun Park at Platoto site in Bansko mountain resort in Bulgaria on the 16th of February 2008. Bansko didn’t disappoint the winter sports lovers again. The start of the new 2007/08 ski season was officially given at Bunderishka polyana site on the 15th of December. The event was accompanied with a heavy snow fall, which was a perfect precondition for a long lasting and high spirits winter season.

The new skiing season in Bulgaria is about to begin earlier this year. Meteorologists forecast heavy snowfall from November which promises a great ski season from the beginning of December.
