Rural Elhovo Tour

Tour description: A long time ago there was a special regime to entrance in the border area of Elhovo region. And that is one of the main reasons to keep this region authentic. With this trip you can touch the ancient manners, traditions and folklore of the Bulgarian people who live at the lands of Lower Tundzha.

ITINERARY:

Day 1 (Friday):

Arrival and accommodation at "Kakarovata house" in the late afternoon. "Kakarovata House" is located in the end of a small village – Lalkovo, about 20 km from the town of Elhovo. Hosts Maria and Dimitar will meet you with traditional Bulgarian pastry and a glass of refreshing drinks. At dusk, when you'll be absolutely forgot about the dynamic way of life, Maria prepared fresh vegetables at salad and the dinner is almost ready smelling tempting at the oven. All the nights in “Kakarovata house” are attractive and filled with smiles and surprises.

Day 2 (Saturday):

The awakening here is filled with fresh mountain air, voiced by the song of forest birds and only the smell of the local delicious breakfast called “katmi” reminds that a new day come. After breakfast you'll visit the town of Ehovo with guide who will show you the main sights in the region. The first stop is at the Ethnographic and Archaeological museum in Elhovo which is one of the 100 best tourist sights of Bulgaria. The day continue with lunch time in a nice local restaurant in the center of the town. Here you will try local meal again. After lunch you'll visit the village of Golyam Dervent and the oldest Thracian toms there. Back at the house in the village of Lalkovo where you will meet Jana, who arrived specially to prepare delicious local meal for dinner.

Day 3 (Sunday): It look like the smell of the breakfast today is coming from Turkey. Maria is already wake up and prepare one of the oldest meals in this area - “guzlumi”. After you get breakfast and enjoy the beautiful morning Maria and Dimitar will say you “Good bye” and will look forward to your returning.
