Wine makers in southwestern Bulgaria’s Plovdiv region plan to further develop wine tourism as a way to support the wine-making industry in the area and attract tourists.
Though the wine tourism branch continues to grow, in 2007 only 0.6 per cent, or 120,000 people, of the total number of visitors to the country were “wine tourists,” according to data by the regional winemakers’ chamber.

The winter charter program of the “Plovdiv International Airport” Ltd., started with flights from Dublin on 22 December, announced Mr. Plamen Nikolov, vice president of the airport. Bulgarian and foreign air companies will transport tourists, mainly from Ireland, Great Britain and Russia.

Bulgaria is the land of the probably first letter script culture in the world - the one of Thracian- Besses, dated on XIII Century B.C.

Thirty floor building will welcome guests of the Plovdiv fair from 2009, announced citybuild.bg.
It will be situates close to one of the entrances of the fair, next to the parking lot for 1000 cars, that can already be seen on “Bulgaria” blvd, commented the executive director of the company Mr. Georgi Gergov.
The super modern building will be erected on the site of the old 15th palate and will hosts a hotel, panorama restaurant, trade centre and conference centre.

The National Association on SPA and Wellness Tourism organizes a conference themed ‘Perspectives and Development of SPA and Wellness Tourism in Bulgaria’, where topical issues and opportunities for development of SPA and Wellness tourism industry will be discussed, organizers announced.

Bulgaria's Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev officially opened the 63rd International Technical Fair in the country's second largest city of Plovdiv on Monday.
Companies from 48 countries will take part in the expo, Germany, Italy, India, and Moldova among them.
New models of cars, buses and trucks will be showed at the auto-saloon, which is to be held for sixth time in a row during the fair.

3600 companies from 48 countries have applied for participation in the International technical Fair in Plovdiv, its director Ivan Sokolov told media.
