The Bulgarian government has granted permission to a Bulgarian-British archeological team to carry out research along the Lower Danube River, the press office of the cabinet announced, quoted by BNR.
The project is titled "The End of Antiquity along the Lower Danube. Nikopolis ad Istrum and its teritory from the end of Vth and the beginning of the VIIth century"
Members of the team come from the National Archeology Institute with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Department of Archaeology from the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom. The project will be completed in five years. Research will focus on the changes in lifestyle and social life in the transitional period from antiquity to the Middle Ages. The project will bring to completion research under two earlier projects carried out by the same team.
