Eagle On The Danube Festival in the ancient town of Novae

The 3rd edition of Eagle On The Danube Festival will be held on June 4th to 6th 2010 in Svishtov city and the nearby ancient town of Novae.

The festival recreates the military life of Imperial Rome and its collisions with tribes of the Ancient World – Thracians, Dacians, and Goths.


This year the reenactments include participants from Rome (Italy), Lublin and Hrubieszow (Poland), Cluj-Napoca (Romania), and the local First Thracian Cohort - Svishtov (Bulgaria).

2010’s edition of the festival will premiere an open-air stage opera: Bellini’s Norma will be played at Kaleto Amphitheater in Svishtov on June 5th.

The festival program also includes: Thracian rituals, Roman dishes with degustation, competitions for kids, parade with torches, exhibition of ancient artifacts, presentations and discussions on Ancient Rome and ancient civilizations, ritual dances and gladiators fights.

Tourist and info centres will be opened for the guests of the festival.
