More than 150 musicians from 20 countries attend the 12th edition of the Bansko Jazz Festival. The event will spread until August 13, featuring Russia’s Igor Butman, James Davies – USA, Bulgarian jazz singer Kamelia Todorova, prominent jazz musicians from Holland, Israel, Egypt, Germany, Austria and other countries. Organizers expect at least 20 thousand people in Bansko during the six days of the jazz festival.

The summer season in Bansko was officially opened yesterday on 24th May. The opening coincided with the traditional holidays of Bansko’s traditions and folklore festival for authentic songs.
The festival program will continue with the summer theatre festival form 01 – 07 July in Bansko. Guests and residents of the resort will be able to observe the best spectacles for the season.

The ski season in Bansko was officially closed and the lift facilities stopped operating. There was a lot of snow this season and great number of tourist and skiers visited Bansko. The most important is that in 2009 the resort was established as a modern ski centre as it hosted the Ski World Cup Ladies in the end of February.

A company from Sofia will start the construction works for a brand new civil airport near Gotse Delchev. Two years ago “Krosi Mountain resort” JSC bought 890 decares land plot in the region of the ex-military runway from the Ministry of Defense. The airport is in the region of Musomitsa village. Experts from BSA announced that it won’t have environmental impact in the site. The runway will be 2,5 km long and will be able to service domestic and international charter flights.

For the second day straight, Austrian Andrea Fischbacher was the fastest in downhill training in Bansko, Bulgaria, where women's World Cup downhill and super G races are scheduled Friday through Sunday.
Fischbacher was first down the icy, turny course that got the better of a few skiers Thursday, including Lindsey Vonn, who took a spill but is OK save a sore butt, U.S. coach Jim Tracy said.

The first official training for the DH and SG World Cup Ladies in Bansko, Bulgaria started at 11 AM, on Fefruary 25th. The decision was taken by the Chief Race Director World Cup Ladies, Mr. Atle Skaardal (FIS). 47 alpine skiers took the starting positions on Banderitsa ski slope yesterday.
