Bansko will host the International festival of the Mountaineers Cinema, announced Natali Petrova, head of the festival. 75 films from five continents, taken from the sea bottom to the Himalayan peaks, will be presented in three halls. The documentaries show the lifestyle, art and religion of the mountain people, as well as the ecology problems of the planet.

The spiritual-historical centre “St. Paisiy of Hilendar” will open its doors in the autumn in Bansko. Sanctification probably will be on 5th October, when is the Day of the resort. Monks from the Monastery of Zograf are also expected, said the mayor Alexander Kravarov.

Japanese star amazed by the ethno exotic at the foot of the Pirin Mountain
Summer thunderstorm raised the adrenalin of Kamelia Todorova yesterday in Bansko. Under the warm sun beams the famous lady made a prefect rehearsal at the town’s square. A festival dedicated to arts will be held in Bansko between August 8 and August 13, reports www.avtora.com.
It will include a lot of music and arts, putting jazz and painting "under the same roof". For the first time, jazz BBQs at noon will be organized with the participation of Angel Zaberski Jr. and Mihail Yosifov. This year's edition of the festival in Bansko pays attention to Bulgarian painting.

Stella Artois Professional Golf Series starts in Bulgaria on July 26 and will continue until October 4, organizers said.
During the four months four separate mini-tournaments will take place, providing an opportunity for professional and amateur golf players to participate.

Bulgaria officially received the privilege to host a round of the FIS World Cup Downhill race for women for the next racing season 2008/2009. The decision was taken on an official meeting of FIS in Cape Town in South Africa.
Bansko will welcome the best downhill racers on 28th February (downhill) and 1st March 2009.
Bansko received an excellent assessment for the rounds of the European Cup, which were held in the resort last season.

Summer tourist season in Bulgaria mountain resort of Bansko started with the folklore festival 'Between Three Mountains', informed the mayor of the city Aleksander Kravarov.
He highlighted that the events coincides with the holiday of Bulgarian education and Slavic literacy - May 24.
