The next 5 days, the sport world will observe Bulgaria, as Bansko’s Banderitza ski run will host the FIS World Cup Ladies’ races in less than a week (February 27 – March 1, 2009). The budget for the competition is 3,5 million BGN and 200 persons work hard to supply excellent snow cover on the ski trails for the biggest sport event in Bulgaria for 2009.
Over a meter fresh snow had to be pulled down from the Tompa slope, to provide excellent skiing conditions for the forthcoming competition.
All competitors from the world elite, with supporting personnel of over 1000 people are expected to arrive today. The sport emissions will broadcast live from Bansko for 5 days.
16 additional will transport the audience together with the Gondola lift. The whole town is in euphoria, numerous volunteers support the preparations for the event. Just 400 tickets will be sold for the competition, for the seats nearby the scene by the VIP lounge, the rest of the seats are free.
All FIS standards were applied on the "Banderitsa" trace, where the DH and SG World Cup for women on Feb. 28 and March 1, 2009 will be held. More than 1 million euro is invested so far to improve and secure the ski run. All necessary safety measures, corresponding to the FIS standards are applied on the slopes in Bansko.
