In two consecutive weekends (18-19 February - Men; 25-26 February - Ladies), Bansko became the ultimate destination for the best of the best in alpine skiing. The elite athletes of the white sport came to Bulgaria for the regular starts of the Audi FIS Ski World Cup. Kempinski Hotel Grand Arena Bansko welcomed the current winner of the Crystal Globe, the German Maria Hoefl-Riesch, as well as Lindsey Vonn, who turned out to be the Number 1 favorite of the passionate Bulgarian fans.

Hristo Stoichkov and the stars from BG radio are special guests for the President cup of Pirin Golf and Country Club

Pirin Golf and Country club will host “The president cup” on 16th July 2011. The president of the club Mr Nikolay Kaloyanov will also compete in the tournament. Special guests of the event will be Hristo Stoichkov and BG radio.

Bansko will host the XIVth edition of Bansko Jazz Festival from 06-13th August 2011.

Music legends such as Jackie Ryan, Larry Vuckovich, Mungo Jerry and other, greatly talented and popular participants in the festival, such as Jive Aces, Yoni Vidal, Rick Margitza and Oleg Kireev, will guarantee of a real jazz atmosphere in Bansko.

After the long winter break, Bulgarian and foreign golfers had the chance to enjoy a golf game, part of the opening tournament for 2011 at the Pirin Golf and country club near Bansko.

80 golfers participated in the tournament and additional 10 keen golfers preferred the golf course at “Pirin Golf” for the excellent conditions and the perfect organization on the golf club. The first open-air opera festival in Bansko was held on 27th and 28th of August 2010 at the foot of Pirin mountain. The ambition of the organizers – Bansko municipality, Tourist Association - Bansko and the prestigious Kempinski Grand Arena Hotel is to turn the cultural event into an annual event.

First of May Tournament was held yesterday at Pirin Golf & Country Club /May 1st, 2010/.
Besides a nice round of golf on the only mountain golf course in Bulgaria, the participants enjoyed the sunny weather.




The tournament was played on the Ian Woosnam golf course, format Stableford Individual. The participants were divided into three divisions: A (hcp up to 18), B (18.1 – 36 hcp) an C 36.1—54 hcp).

On March 28rd Pirin Golf & Country Club started the Pirin Monthly Series for second year. The series of tournaments will be held each month until September. The tournament will be played on the championship golf course Ian Woosnam golf course, format Stableford Individual. The participants will be divided into three groups.

Last week the whole world heard about Bansko. Bulgarian ski resort was the host of Ski World Cup. Two rounds of DH World Cup and one Super G competition took place at Banderitsa ski run from 27th of February till the 1st of March.

The downhill competition, which was put off from Saint Moritz resort in Switzerland, started on the 27th of February, Friday. Unfortunately, I arrived in Bansko late in the evening on Friday, so I missed the first round. But as I reached Bansko I went in the press...
