Bulgaria Gets Approval to Create World Tourism Museum in Sofia

Bulgaria was granted the approval of the World Tourism Organisation to create a World Tourism Museum in Sofia, announced the Bulgarian Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova.

The forecasts of the Tourism Ministry showed that all initiatives on stimulating domestic tourism will contribute to maintaining the positive trend for the growth of the number of Bulgarians spending their holidays in the country.

The number of Russian tourists in Bulgaria continues to grow

Bulgaria was visited by 18 113 Russian tourists in January 2014 that is 14,9% more compared to the same period in 2013. The positive results show that Bulgaria is an attractive destination for Russian tourists not only in summer, but also in winter season.

The information was provided by the deputy economy minister Branimir Botev during his visit of a tourist exhibition in Moscow.

The Bulgarian winter resorts Bansko, Borovets and Pamporovo are among popular resorts in Europe.

Bulgaria's hotels increased number of tourists in Jan 2014

Bulgaria's hotels have reported revenue growth and increased number of tourists in Jan 2014, according to the National Statistical Institute.

In January 2014, 1886 tourist accommodation establishments-hotels, motels, camping sites, mountain chalets and other establishments for short-term accommodation have operated in the country. The total number of rooms was 55.2 thousand and the number of beds was 110.1 thousand, the NSI reports.

Bulgaria To Launch Tourism Campaign in Germany

Bulgaria launches in Germany a new advertising campaign under the slogan “Bulgaria – discover and share”.

According to Bulgaria's deputy minister of Economy and Energy Branimir Botev, the goal of the campaign is to promote the country as an attractive tourist destination. So far Bulgaria is known at the German market mainly as a summer seaside destination and the goal of the campaign is to promote it as a SPA and ski destination and as a country for cultural tourism.

Bulgaria expects loads of snow on Women’s Day

March 8 comes with snow. On Women's Day a snowy blanket will cover the high plains of Bulgaria.

Friday will bring pouring rain across Bulgaria.

Bulgarian artwork decorates USA’s JFK Airport

A 5 meters tall Bulgarian art miracle will wave goodbye to the passengers at New York's JFK Airport, Standart daily reports.

The modernist sculpture is the work of Dimitar Lukanov from Plovdiv and will be officially opened tomorrow. The art work titled " Out of Time " resembles a huge tree that will " hang" nine feet in the air.

The monument weighs 2 tons and is almost 5 meters tall and over 3 meters wide. It is made of steel and aluminum tubes.

Russian tourists choose Bulgaria for spa and monastery tourism

Russian tourists show interest in spa holidays, cultural sightseeing and pilgrimage tourism.
Organized Russian groups will visit some of the most popular Bulgarian monasteries.
The guests from Russia are also interested in spa and wellness procedures and cultural sightseeing. During the past year the number of Russian tourists has increased with 14%. almost 400 000 Russian residents own properties in Bulgaria.

Sofia Hosts Vacation and Spa Expo 2014

250 companies and organizations will present their tourism and vacation offers at the "Vacation and Spa Expo 2014" in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The event starts on Thursday at the Inter Expo Center in Sofia and will last until Saturday.

Bulgaria received the most prestigious award of EMITT tourism fair in Istanbul

Bulgaria received the most prestigious award for the best stall at the International Tourism Exhibition EMITT (East Mediterranean International Travel & Tourism Exhibition) 2014 in Istanbul, the press office of the Ministry of Economy and Energy announced.
The award is determined in an exclusive competition among the national stalls of 71 countries and 150 other provinces and regions.
