From 6 to 8 of July in the town of Kyustendil/ will held international conference “Approximation of cultural corridor Sofia - Ohrid - Cultural Tourism without Borders”.

The idea is cultural tourism to be without any borders and based on common cultural and historical roots of the people.

The western Bulgarian city of Kyustendil was voted "Most dynamically Developing SPA destination" at the second edition of the annual "Spa Nominations" ceremony.

The event was held at the Kempinski-Zografski hotel in Sofia.

In 2010, the town of Sandanski was declared "Best SPA destination" in the country, after Velingrad withdrew from the competition in a bid to stimulate other towns famous for...

Kyustendil attracts tourists with numerous offers for “green tourism” in the municipality. This was announced by the head of “Tourism” department of the municipal – Nelly Velinova.

Osogovo mountain is one of the cleanest and venerable mountains in Europe and offer incredible conditions for green tourism.
The municipality also plans to popularize the local festivals of fertility and cherries.

Kyustendil will host “Cherry fest 2010” during the next 3 days. The minister of Agriculture of Bulgaria will mark the official opening of the festival.
The festive program includes cherry exhibitions of different sorts of cherries and cherry artifacts. During the second day a folklore festival “Chereshchisa rod rodila”.
The third day will be dedicated to competitions for the biggest cherry, the most beautiful cherry stand and a culinary festival.

A team of Bulgarian archaeologists discovered Wednesday unique mosaics from Byzantine times during excavation works in the town of Kyustendil.

The beautiful findings, which are drawn mainly with geometrical figures, once tiled the floors of official halls in a Byzantine private house, the experts reported.

"The names of the home's owners are written on the mosaics and it is the first time when such artifacts have been discovered in Bulgaria," the chief archaeologist Rumen Spasov...
