Bulgaria in Top 3 Tourist Destinations for Europeans

Bulgaria has made it to the top 3 of preferred tourist destinations among the Europeans, together with Greece and Tunisia, Bulgarian National TV Channel reported.

This summer the travelling agencies expect a 12% growth in the number of foreign tourists in Bulgaria and 60% of them will come from the EU member states.

Hotels to adopt pan-EU star system

A European tourism board will be set up soon to align the benchmarking rules of the hospitality industries of the member states, Anelia Krushkova, chairperson of the Bulgarian State Tourism Agency, told a gathering of industry executives. The local accommodation facilities will likely be checked and assigned a star-rating by foreign experts. At the moment, the agency is working on a project to divide the country into different regions that will be marketed as stand-alone destinations at industry...

International cycling championship will start in Vidin

International cycling championship for youths will take place from 1 – 3 June in Vidin. The cycling round is organized with the kind cooperation of the regional governor eng. Krastio Spasov and the mayors of Bregovo, Dimovo and Kula. Majour initiator and organizer of the sport event is the local cycling club “Romulus investment”.
Participants from Serbia, Macedonia and Bulgaria will compete in the championship with a praise fund of 1500 BGN. Bulgaria will be represented by the cycling clubs...

Vratsa Celebrates the Days of the revolutionary Hristo Botev

Two delegations of brother towns of Vratsa will arrive for the celebrations of the town day and the 131-anniversary of the heroic deed of Hristo Botev and his detachment.
Today the mayor of Vratsa met representatives of Krayova, Romania and guests from Bor, Serbia. The delegations are to visit the Historical Museum of Vratsa.

Each year on 01 of June - the day of Vratsa, the town celebrates with fireworks and a march parade takes place at Hristo Botev Square.

Restoration of Roman and Medieval Fortresses in Bulgaria

Gurmen municipality near the town of Gotse Delchev in the Pirin Mountain region will launch the reconstruction of the antique Roman town of Nikopolis ad Nestrum.

Gurmen will co-operate with Greek Agios Athanasios (St Atanas) municipality.

The town will be preserved and turned into tourism attraction. Illumination, security and video control will be provided for the whole area.

Nikopolis ad Nestum spreads on 100 000 sq m. It was built in 105 to honour Roman emperor Trajan.
