Strong wind and avalanche danger in the mountains

Strong winds are blowing on the highest parts of the mountains in Bulgaria, announced the mountain rescue service.
The weather is not suitable for tourism, except in the Rhodope Mountains. There is high avalanche danger.
The weather conditions are relatively suitable for ski sports in the ski centres, where all equipments are operating, according to the meteorology conditions.

The first charter flight from Moscow arrives at Plovdiv Airport

The first charter from Moscow to Bulgaria’s city of Plovdiv will arrive at Plovdiv Airport on December 25. This flight will mark the opening of a new charter line operated by Siberia Airlines.

Plovdiv Airport will negotiate for the opening of a permanent line from Moscow to Plovdiv. Siberia Airlines opened a regular air line from Moscow to Varna after it performed charter flights during the summer.

Sofia's ice skating rink "Ariana" opened

One of the attractions of Sofia, the ice skating rink in the Ariana lake in the “Borissova gradina” park next to the Orlov Most (Eagles' Bridge) was opened on 12 December 2009.

The total area of the ice skating rink in Ariana lake is 1600 sq m. It is the biggest open ice rink on the Balkans.


The ice rink will be open 24 hours a day. The price per hour is 3 leva during the working days and 4 leva at weekends. Children can skate for free every day between 8am and 10 am.

Pamporovo Opens the Ski Season 2009/2010 on Saturday

The most picturesque skiing resort in Bulgaria opens the new skiing season tomorrow 19th December 2009. The official program will start from 1.00 p.m. in front of Students chalet. Unique ski show will be performed by the leading ski schools in the resort.
The event will continue up on the slopes on Snejanka peak with a hot drink in “Zlaten Orel” (Golden eagle) restaurant.
