Bulgaria Foreign Minister Opens Forum on National Symbols

Bulgaria Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Ivailo Kalfin opened Monday a round table as part of the "Bulgarian Symbols" National Campaign.

The themes of the forum, which took place in Grand Hotel Sofia, were: "The Bulgarian Symbols in Support Our Identity and as Bulgaria's Emblem Abroad", and "Bulgaria - Successful European Business and Tourist Destination."

About 70 tourists in Belogradchik for the last weekend

About 70 people have visited Magura cave and Belogradchik fortress during the last weekend. The visitors are mainly individual tourists and the organized groups are expected soon. Many of the tourist are families with children who are interested in the history of Belgradchik region.

Many guests from Greece, Russia and England are among the usual visitors of Belogradchik. The number of the tourist increased during the last week because of the warm, sunny weather. The price of the thickets...

BGN 250 M Needed for Tunnel to Connect North and South Bulgaria

The construction of a tunnel under the Shipka Mount in the central part of the Balkan Mountain will cost about BGN 250 M.

This became clear at an expert meeting in the mountain city of Gabrovo in central Bulgaria to discuss the realization of the planned infrastructure project, which is supposed to improve dramatically the transport connections between northern and southern Bulgaria.

Sofia - Most Favorable European City for Business Tourism

Bulgaria's capital is the most favorable European city for business tourism.
A traveling businessman spends in Sofia round 184 EUR per day.
It's almost cheap for the business tourist also in Budapest (259 EUR) and Warsaw (270 EUR).
The data comes from Milan's Chamber of Commerce, using statistics of Economist Intelligence Unit for 2006.

According to the research Milan is also not so expensive for the businessmen. In the city one person spends round 416 EUR per day.

Sozopol Seaside City to Become Sunny Beach II

The seaside strip between the coastal city of Sozopol and the village of Chernomorets will be build up as a beach resort, said Panayot Reizi Sozopol's new mayor, quoted by Dnevnik a.m.
The suggestion for the construction of beachfront villas, aqua park, golf courses and a small runway for charter planes was included in the zoning plan of Sozopol.

Bansko Ski Resort to Take Part in German Eco Projects

A 12-member German delegation leaded by Germany's Ambassador to Bulgaria Michael Geyer visited the top Bulgarian winter resort of Bansko and its mayor Alexander Kravarov.

The guests showed interest to the ski zone, the gasification of the city, culture events, which take place during the whole year, not only in winter time.
Ambassador Geyer stated that he had read quite positive comments about Bansko, not only in the German press, but worldwide.

Veliko Turnovo - Part of International Tourism Project

Veliko Turnovo Municipality enters with 42, 000 EUR an international project for steady city tourism, money.bg announced.
The Municipality Council signed the union agreement with municipalities from Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Ireland, Italy, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Greece.

The program for international collaboration INTERREG IV C will invest 3 million EUR for 3 years to develop strategies of tourism exchange in the cities partners. The EU subsidizing will be 85% of the amount.

EU Approves Bulgaria's Rural Development Program

The commissioner on agriculture and rural development Mariann Fischer Boel signed the decision for approval of Bulgaria's rural development program 2007-2013, informed the press center of the Bulgarian agriculture ministry.

In several days the European commission is expected to make the first advance payment under the program in compliance with the Regulation (EU) 1290/2005.

The Rural development program has a six time higher budget than the one of the pre-accession program SAPARD.

Hundreds of Bulgarian, Foreign Companies Join Spa Expo in Sofia

More than 320 companies from 20 countries are to present their products at the international spa expo that has been opened Thursday in the National Palace of Culture in Sofia.

"Bulgaria could delight each and every tourist, who decides to visit it," the State Tourism Agency Chairwoman Aneliya Krushkova said at the opening ceremony.

Sozopol municipality plans major sea resort development

The strip of land between coastal city Sozopol and its adjacent village of Chernomorets will be developed into a beach resort, said newly appointed Sozopol mayor Panayot Reizi.

The proposals for the construction in the area of beachfront villas, aqua park, three golf courses and a small runway for charter planes have been included in the revised general zoning plan of the city and should be presented to the municipal council within the next two weeks.
