Bulgaria will be divided into eight tourist regions

Bulgraria will be devided into eight tourist regions. This was announced by Stela Baltova – the vice president of the State Tourism Agency, during a conference which took place in Smolyan. The regions are: Sofia, The Rila and Pirin Mountains, The Rodope Mountains, Thrace, Black seaside, Ancient Bulgarian capitals, The Balkan Mountain range and the Danube region.

The idea about the tourist regions was announced in 2007, when Bulgaria was divided into 20 regions, but the project was not developed until now.

Baltova said that the tourist regional division will help to develop the tourist products of Bulgaria depending on the advantages of each region.

The regional presentation is the best way to announce Bulgaria as a tourist destination. State Tourism Agency aims to make each region unique and to turn it into a trade mark of Bulgaria with its own natural, cultural and historical heritage.
