National day of Natural Parks in Bulgaria

National day of Natural parks in Bulgaria 2011 is organized by WWF Bulgaria on May, 14. The initiative started in 2007 and this year this will be its fourth time.

Volunteers will clean the parks from waste to keep that places beautiful for visitors (in 2009 they collected 15 tones of waste). The campaign also include: cleaning, improving and upgrading the infrastructure and marking of routes in the 11 nature parks in Bulgaria. Information signs will be placed on the most visited places in each of the natural parks in Bulgaria.

There are eleven natural parks in Bulgaria - Belasitza, Balgarka, Vitosha, Vrachanski Balkan,Golden sands , Persina, Rila Monastery, Rusenski Lom, The Blue Stones, Strandzha and Shoumen plateau. Every year they are visited of more than 10 millions people.
