The mayor of Smolyan Dora Yankova has issued an order suspending construction works at ski resort Pamporovo from December 1 till March 30. The ban aims to ensure the winter tourist season. The freeze also affects the nearby village of Stoykite.

In December 2008, the hotels’ managers in Pamporovo Resort and the municipalities of Smolyan and Devin started a research of the opinion of the tourists about the hotels and holidays services in the region. It lasted 4 mounts but the number of the filled questionnaires was much smaller than it was expected. Ski patrol will watch closely for the security on the ski tracks of Pamporovo, announced from ‘Ski-school Pamporovo'. Founding of the patrol crew is contracted between the local association of ski-schools and the Smolyan and Chepelare Municipalities.

According to the plan, patrol will include 3 representatives of the ski-teachers. The crew will check for drunken and dangerous skiers, and for sledges, moving out of the permitted tracks.

A brand new unique lift will be officially opened in Pamporovo winter resort in Bulgaria on 6th December. The event will also mark the opening of the new skiing season in Pamporovo.

The new six seat lift is 2992 metres long with a capacity for 2400 people per hour.
The managers of the resort will discuss the investments in the resort and the future projects of the company, as well as the potential and development opportunities for the resort.

Pamporovo mountain resort is ready to welcome tourists for the new skiing season, announced the resort managers. The vice governor of Smolyan – engineer Dimitar Krastanov pointed that all of the important infrastructure projects in the regions are completed. He assured that the new electricity station in the resort is about to start operating before the official start of the season. Two brand new ski slopes with a total length pf 7 km and a brand new six pack lift will welcome tourists for the new skiing season in Pamporovo.

This was announced by the executive director of “Pamporovo” JSC Nikolai Iliev, quoted by radio Plovdiv.

The new ski slopes will start from Snejanka peak and will reach Stoykite village. The pistes will be serviced by a six-pack lift which is already installed on site.

A Stage of 3,000 Straw Bales to be built at 2,190 meters for Leviev's concert


Bulgarian jazz musician Milcho Leviev again will be on top. He will play with Plovdiv Big Band on July 19 on Perelik peak in the Rhodopes where a unique facility will be built for better acoustics. The special wall won't be built with conventional construction materials but with bales of straw arranged as a chessboard. Workers are calculating that about 3,000 bales will be needed to assemble the sound...

The construction of the tourism centre “Perelik” in Smolyan municipal will take from four to seven years. The first phase of the construction process of the ski equipment will start next year. This became clear on the official presentation of the investment plans of Smolyan municipal, held on 19th June 2008.

2008/02/28

100 mln GBN will be invested in Pamporovo mountain resort till 2010. The last investments in the resort were at total value of 40 mln BGN and all lift stations and facilities in Pamporovo were renovated. The rope line connection and ski slope between Snezhanka peak and Stoikite village are in process of development. The new piste will be 3 km long. 1.5 mln BGN was put into the ski wardrobes and equipment.

About 9200 organized tourists and 3500 individual visitors used the services of the ski...
