The number of tourists in Plovdiv increased

Tourists in Bulgaria's second biggest city Plovdiv increased by 7% in 2013, compared to the previous year, reaching 14,261, data of National Statistical Institute shows.

Plovdiv Municipality experts recorded an increase of individual visits of the city, as well as a 5% raise in museum visits, Standart news reports.

Art festival to take place in Plovdiv this autumn

The annual art festival in Plovdiv will be held between 1 – 30 September in the picturesque houses of Old Town. Bulgarian artists aged between 25 – 40, among which Kaliya Kalacheva, Alexander Petkov, Darina Peeva, Dimitar Genchev, Eleonora Drumeva, Zina Nedelcheva, Lora Aprmakova, Lyubomir Krastev, Nina Ruseva, Stoyan Dechev, and others will be the main focus of the event.

A modern zoo with aquarium will entertain guests in Plovdiv

The biggest aquarium in Bulgaria will be constructed in Plovdiv, together with the expansion and improvement of the local zoo. The facility will be built in two phases.

A festive Dionysus procession will open Vinaria 2013

Free wine will be provided for the first toasts for the opening of the latest edition of the VINARIA 2013 International Exhibition of Vine-Growing and Wine Producing which will be held in Plovdiv this week.

The night of Museums - Plovdiv

The eighth edition of “The night of museum and galleries in Plovdiv” will be held on Friday 21th September 2012. The program is divided in three parts “Museum and galleries”, “Culture and club” and city and urban environment. Plovdiv launches free guided tours in English

Free guided tours in English will be offered to all guests of Plovdiv. The initiative Free Plovdiv Tour will start on Friday in front of the tourists centre in the central part of the town. The tours are completely free.

The tours will be offered all year round from 6.00 PM and will take around two hours. The route starts from the central post station and passes through the Odeon along the way to the Old town.

Vinaria 2012 starts in Plovdiv

The jubilee 20th edition of the international exhibition “Vinaria” starts in Plovdiv. 40 wine producers from Bulgaria and 200 companies from abroad will participate in the event. The exhibition will take place from 15th - 18th march in Plovdiv. For the first time this year a blitz course “The magic of wine tasting” and a sommelier competition will be held during the event.
