Tourists in Bulgaria's second biggest city Plovdiv increased by 7% in 2013, compared to the previous year, reaching 14,261, data of National Statistical Institute shows.
Plovdiv Municipality experts recorded an increase of individual visits of the city, as well as a 5% raise in museum visits, Standart news reports.

The biggest aquarium in Bulgaria will be constructed in Plovdiv, together with the expansion and improvement of the local zoo. The facility will be built in two phases.

Free guided tours in English will be offered to all guests of Plovdiv. The initiative Free Plovdiv Tour will start on Friday in front of the tourists centre in the central part of the town. The tours are completely free.

The jubilee 20th edition of the international exhibition “Vinaria” starts in Plovdiv. 40 wine producers from Bulgaria and 200 companies from abroad will participate in the event. The exhibition will take place from 15th - 18th march in Plovdiv. For the first time this year a blitz course “The magic of wine tasting” and a sommelier competition will be held during the event.
