Asenovgrad – Asen’s Fortress - Bachkovo Monastery – Plovdiv – Stara Zagora – Kazanluk – Starosel – Koprivshtitsa

Day 1:

Sofia - Asenovgrad (170 km, 2 h 20 min)

Departure from Sofia to the city of Asenovgrad. Visiting of Asen’s Fortress located on the top of a cliff.
Its strategic location and natural defenses explain why it has been used since the days of the Thracians, who fortified it in the 5th century BCE.

Departure for Bachkovo monastery - the second largest Bulgarian monastery founded in 1083.

Departure for the city of Plovdiv - the second largest city in Bulgaria and one of the oldest cities in Europe. The town in its present appearance was built around 7 hills which are an inseparable part of the city’s history.

Walking city tour in the Old town: Amphitheater, churches, Ethnographic museum, old houses built in Bulgarian Revival style during the 19th c., etc.
Free time. Accommodation and 1 overnight stay in 3 star hotel.

Day 2:

Plovdiv – Stara Zagora – Kazanlyk (140 km, 1h 40 min)

Breakfast. At 8:00 departure for the town of Stara Zagora. The cultural and historical heritage of the town is the result of its 8 thousand year history that can be traced in the rich archives of the Regional History Museum; "The Neolithic dwellings" Museum, presenting the best preserved dwellings in Europe from the middle of 6th c. BC, the Antique Forum of Augusta Trayana, etc. The town is famous for its “green” streets, spacious parks and gardens.

Departure for the town of Kazanlyk, located in the Rose valley and Thracian kings.

Sightseeing tour program with visiting of Kazanlyk tomb, Museum of the Rose and one of the biggest tombs on the Balkan peninsular.

Accommodation and 1 overnight stay in 3 star hotel.

Day 3:

Kazanlyk – Starosel – Koprivshtitsa – Sofia (250 km, 4 h)

Breakfast. Departure for the village of Starosel – the Thracian Temple Complex. The oldest ever found royal Thracian complex with a mausoleum - Chetinyovata Mogila is located 4 km from Starosel. It dates back to the end of 5th and the beginning of 4th century BC.
The Thracian Temple Complex covers 6 underhill temples, 4 of which are unique, as well as a few royal burials. We will visit Chetinyova Mogila temple and the Horizon temple.

Departure for Koprivshtitsa. Sightseeing tour program in the town of Koprivshtitsa turned into a museum with preserved spirit of the Bulgarian National Revival period.

Departure for Sofia.
