Over one billion euro has been invested in the wellness and spa industry in Bulgaria over the past twenty years. The sector has been the target of most of the recent investments in Bulgaria’s tourism.

This became clear from yesterday’s speech of Stefan Sharlopov, President of the Bulgarian Union for Balneology and Spa Tourism, delivered on the sidelines of the 18th annual congress of the European Spas Association.

The deputy minister of economy, energetics and tourism Ivo Marinov stated that the forthcoming congress for spa tourism of the European SPA association (ESPA) which will be held in Pomorie in May, is a great recognition for our country.
According to latest data 40% of the tourists from the Balkans chose Bulgaria for a spa holiday.

On May 5th, 2011 Green Balkan NGO will make a presentation about the touristic services of Pomorie Lake Visitor Center and will officially open the eco-trails around the saline lagoon!

The event will take place in the Visitor Center of Pomorie Lake in the town of Pomorie (on the southern bank of the lake, next to the Salt Museum).

The Month of the wine was opened in Pomorie resort on the Black sea.

The Wine Festival is accompanied by a rich cultural and entertainment program.

The festival was opened on 8 August with performances of the favourite Bulgarian artists - Kristina Dimitrova and Orlin Goranov. After the official opening the guests were welcomed by Dionysus - the god of wine.

The start of the new summer season in Pomorie will be marked from 8:00 Pm tonight on the central square.
A music concert will entertain all guests and residents of the resort.

Pomorie has already welcomed its first tourists, who came for the 7th International Orthodox Singing festival.

Grand Hotel Pomorie received another prestigious award – a golden prize for “The best Grand Hotel in Bulgaria”.
The award was granted by the chief editor of “Tourism and otdih” magazine, Mr. Dimitar Keremedchiev on an official awarding ceremony, part of the International tourism exhibition Vacation and Spa, that took place on 25 – 27 February 2010 in the National Palace of Culture.

On September 12 Bulgarian Institute for Standardization organizde a conference on the development of SPA & Wellness tourism in Bulgaria.

The event was held in Grand Hotel Pomorie and was supported by the Ministry og Economy, Energetic and Tourism.

Pomorie will host the festival “Sea of wine” for the 8th time in a row. The festival will be officially opened on 31 July from 7.00 PM with an exhibition of wine producers. The party will begin form 8.30 with a festive concert in the centre of the town. The festival will continue until 03 September 2009.

The festival “Days of Yavorov” will be opened with an official ceremony in front of the monument of the poet in Pomorie tonight. The event will be preceded by the premier of the new book by Stefan Kolarov “Yavorov and Laura. The mystery of one distraction”.

A reciatle, theatre spectacles, exhibitions and poetic premiers are included in the program of the traditional Yavorov days in Pomorie, that will take place until 18th July 2009.

Remains of a temple complex dedicated to the cult of Isis and Osiris were discovered in the Paleokastro region in Pomorie.
The temple dates back from the second century A.C., announced Burgasinfo.

The building was built on the grounds of an ancient Thracian pagan temple, claim the archaeologists.
