Bulgaria is a crossing point of different customs and traditions since the Antiquity. On the 14th of February Bulgarians usually celebrate the day of St. Trifon Zarezan. Form 25th to 27th of January the town of Pernik was sounded by bells, drums, folklore music and indefinite, deafening noise, coming from some strange people dressed in furs, women costumes, funny or really scary masks, and many enormous bells around their waists. This year’s early snowfall provided excellent skiing conditions everywhere in the mountains. Please, have in mind that the Mountain Rescue Service announced high avalanche danger everywhere in the mountains, so take precautions and always follow the marked slopes.

The New Year came with a lot of snow and the mountains revealed their extreme cold beauty and their tempting dangerous charm. So I couldn’t resist and last weekend I went for a walk in Vitosha Mountain. I equipped myself as an Arctic explorer, because the weather was rather cold, I called a friend of mine, threw my camera bag over my shoulder and I left my sweet, snug home, making my way to the white covered, proudly standing Vitosha Mountain.
