Rose Festival in Kazanlak 2008

June has come and the rich, luxuriant land between the towns Karlovo and Kazanlak, known as the Valley of Roses, bloomed with the beautiful and fragrant rose flowers again. Fun trip in Lukovit with Diplomat hotel

Last week I was invited at info tour, organized by Diplomat Hotel in Lukovit. The town is situated 100 km north of Sofia, not far away from the meanders of Iskar River and the hotel is one of the most popular 4 stars business hotels in the countryside.

I arrived at the hotel at 9 AM on Thursday but unfortunately the bad weather came with me too. It was rainy and most of the attractions, arranged by the hotel, failed. I was really sorry to miss the buggy competitions and the water...

Rafting in Struma – the wildest party in the roughest river

Every year, at the beginning of April, the banks of Struma River in the region of Kresna Gorge become a basic camp of the lovers of rafting and kayaking. St. Todor's day – the celebration of the flying horses

On the 15th of March Bulgaria celebrates the day of St. Todor. This holiday is a mixture between the Christianity and the pagan rituals which is typical for the Bulgarian traditions. St. Teodor (Todor) is represented as rider on a white horse so he was well accepted as a horse patron in Bulgaria after the Conversion in 864. The horses are very reputable in Bulgaria. Proto-Bulgarians were nomads and they were known horse people.
