How to choose the right ski resort in Bulgaria

Thanks to the heavy snow from last year all resorts in Bulgaria boasted with excellent skiing season and lots of happy skiers on the slopes. This year Bansko, Borovets and Pamporovo promised even better skiing conditions and new improvements in the ski centres in order to provide more comforts and perfectly maintained ski slopes.
The key to a fulfilling skiing holiday, however, is to pick the right resort in the first place. Here, we have prepared a detailed report, aiming to help you pick the right place for you ski trip to Bulgaria.

- Best resorts for beginners – In general all ski resorts in Bulgaria offer excellent conditions for beginner skiers with professional ski schools and perfectly maintained slopes for beginners. - Best resorts for intermediate skiers – Intermediates will definitely feel happy everywhere in Bulgaria. Bansko, Borovets and Pamporovo resort offer superb skiing conditions and excellent service from mid December till early April. Each resort on its own has enough terrain to keep a keen intermediate amused for a week.

- Best resorts for advanced skiers – the ski centres in Bansko and Borovets offer good conditions for advanced skiers. However some freeride terrain outside the official ski centre will better suit the needs of a true freerider. Ask the local reps for assistance and mountain guide if you want to try skiing off the beaten path. Never underestimate the avalanche danger in the mountain.

- Best resorts for families – Families are heartily welcomed everywhere in Bulgaria. Ski kindergartens offer lots of for the youngest skiers, while mammy and daddy can enjoy excellent skiing, spa treatment or just a walk in the mountain.

- Best resorts for singles – The party never stops in Borovets. The resort offers the loudest nightlife with the best apres ski in Bulgaria. Bansko, on the other hand, offers excellent traditional mehanas with roaring fires, real Bulgarian food and good wine. There are also lively bars at the gondola base and new ones keep opening. Popular venues are the Lion pub, B4 and Amigos, and the bowling alley at the hotel Strazhite. In Pamporovo the party starts from the slopes, than the mountain restaurants and going on to bars and then on to the clubs.
