Day 1

Sofia – Sandanski (165 km, 2 h 30 min)

Accommodation in 3 star hotel.
Sightseeing tour: Archeological museum, St. George church (1861), Art Gallery, City park “St. Vrach”.
Free time. 1 overnight stay.

Day 2

Sandanski – Melnik (22 km, 25 min)

Breakfast in the hotel. Departure for Melnik – architectural reserve and the smallest town in Bulgaria famous in entire Europe for its good wine.
Visiting of medieval churches and old houses - architectural monuments of the Revival.
Close to Melnik are situated Melnik rock pyramids with interesting forms, reaching 100 m in height.
Lunch (optional). Free time.

Melnik – Rozhen Monastery (8 km)

Visiting of famous Rozhen Monastery built in XIII c. It is the largest Orthodox monastery in the Pirin region.

Rozhen Monastery – Rupite (28 km, 30 min)

The protected area of Rupite is famous for its healing mineral springs with a temperature of 74° C and diverse flora and fauna.

The memorial temple “St. Petka of Bulgaria”, built in 1994 is situated in the locality of Rupite. The locality is mostly famous as a place related to the prophet Vanga, and by this it attracts thousands of worshippers and tourists.

Returning to Sandanski. 1 overnight stay.

Day 3

Sandanski – Rila monastery (105 km, 1 h 40 min)

Breakfast in the hotel. Departure for Rila Monastery, one of the symbols of Bulgaria, located in the Rila mountain (1147 m).
It was founded in the first half of the 10th c. In 1983 it was included in the List of World Cultural Heritage of UNESCO. The total area which the holy cloister takes, together with the church, the residential, and the farming buildings, is 8800 sq. m.

Lunch (optional). Free time. Departure for Sofia.
