Perelik peak hosted an eco jazz festival

The bears house at the Perelik peak hosted an eco jazz festival “The sound of silence” this weekend.
Over 300 guests attended the unique Jazz fest in the Rhodope mountains. The festival was held with the support of the ambassador of USA Marcie Ries. The open air scene was created by 4000 packs of straw. 2000 candles and four hearths illuminated the eco hall.

Smolyan will hold the first festival of the wild flower

Smolyan municipality will host the first “Festival of the wild flowers.” The official opening of the event will be held on June 21 in Smolyan.
The program of the festival will present various tourism options and attractions in the region. Botanic and cycle routes through the colourful meadows of the Rhodope mountain, lectures for the healing qualities of the local herbs, a well as ateliers for traditional and art crafts will be presented at the event.

Bulgarian-German Center to Train Tourism Sector Staff

A Bulgarian-German center was officially opened Monday in the regional, southern city of Smolyan to be used for staff training, mainly for employees working in the tourism sector.

The construction cost is BGN 2.5M. Experts will teach courses such as "Administration and Management," "Hotel, Restaurant Management and Catering," "IT Applications," "Food Technologies," and "Gardening."

The facility includes a dormitory, hotel rooms, practice kitchen, seminar and lecture halls.

Smolyan Hosts Tourism Fair

VII-th edition of the International Tourism Fair starts in Smolyan city in the Rhodope Mountain. The fair bears the name “The mountain s in Bulgaria – hospitality in four seasons.”

150 representatives of the tourism business and lecturers from different universities will participate in the event.
The Bulgarian hotelier and restaurant association, the Bulgarian association for alternative tourism and Bansko municipal will also participate.

Banite Municipality Develops Eco Tourism

The Municipality of Banite village develops a project for the protection of threatened animals, birds and plants. The existing eco routes will be renovated and several new trails will be promoted this year.

Six new eco trails will take the visitors to the local landmarks of the village. The project of the Zagrazhdenska eco path has been already finalized. It was started in 2007. The route is provided with great variety of facilities, which help to overcome the hardest sections of the terrain....

"Jam on It" Festival for Ninth Time in Bulgaria

The ninth edition of the festival "Jam on It" will take place on September 19th and 20th in Smolyan and on September 22nd - in Sofia.

Jazz Fest in Smolyan in July 2008

This year the July Jazz Fest in Smolyan is devoted to the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue 2008 and all concerts are free.

Shiroka Luka Festival to Kick off This Weekend

The annual traditional folklore festival in the Rhodopi Mountains village of Shiroka luka will be held on March 1-2 this year. The festival is known worldwide and well-attended by Bulgarians from all over the country and foreigners from all ends of the world.

The event is held annually in March, with "koukeri" dancers (traditional Bulgarian mummers) gathering from many villages and performing in the picturesque Rhodopi village of Shiroka luka.

Rhodope Mountains Attract Summer Tourists to Bulgaria

Bulgaria's Rhodope Mountains are gaining popularity among summer tourists. The most popular alternative holiday destinations are the villages around the rivers of Arda, Shirokolushka and those close to the town of Smolyan.
