Go2Balkans tourism conference in Sofia

A Southeastern European conference called Go2Balkans begins in Sofia on November, 25 bringing together tour operators, hoteliers and municipalities from Bulgaria and other countries from the Balkan Peninsula.

The event is focused on popularizing the cultural and historical heritage and nature of these countries.

The conference will be held at the Inter Expo Center in Sofia for the 2nd year.

Sofia is the most affordable destination in Europe

Bulgaria's capital city of Sofia is the most affordable destination for tourists in Europe in March with average prices of BGN 115, according to the Trivago Hotel Price Index.

According to the latest survey held in more than 50 European cities and resorts by hotel comparison website trivago.co.uk, the cheapest hotels in Bulgaria are located in Veliko Tarnovo and cost an average of BGN 76 per night.

Hotels in the Black Sea resorts Sunny Beach, Sozopol and Nessebar cost an average of BGN...

The Ethnographic Museum in Sofia opens Martenitsa exhibition

Bulgaria's National Ethnographic Museum in Sofia is hosting an exhibition of the traditional Bulgarian good health charm "martenitsa".

It features the works of the Cooperative of Folk Crafts Masters and shows traditional martenitsas from various parts of Bulgaria and own unique models of the masters.

During the exhibition, which will continue through March 8, there will be workshops where the handier visitors could make their own martenitsas.

Sofia ranked as the most affordable European travel destination

Sofia has been ranked the most affordable European travel destination by the Huffington Post’s European 3-Star Traveler Index.

Topping Price of Travel's European 3-Star Traveler Index for 2013—which compares the cost of a centrally located, well-reviewed three-star hotel, plus the cost of transportation, some activities, food and drink Sofia, earned the title of Europe's cheapest tourist city, coming in at under USD 50 a day.

Sofia hosts unique ICE Fest

The first ice sculpture festival in Bulgaria will take place in Sofia – in front of the VIVACOM Art Hall. Sofia ICE Fest starts on January 31, the organizers announced.

Sculptures and ice figures of crystal clear ice will be exhibited for a week in the centre of the capital city.
The Ice Festival figures are made by the sculptures Ruslan Korovkov and Irina Taflevskaya.

A special ice bar, made entirely of huge ice blocks will welcome the visitors of the fest. One can enjoy the drinks...

Burgas, Varna and Sofia are among the Top 100 city destinations

Euromonitor International released its latest Top City Destinations Ranking for 2011, covering 100 of the world's leading and most dynamic cities in terms of international tourist arrivals.

Hong Kong topped the ranking with more than 20 million arrivals in 2011, a nine percent increase over 2010. Hong Kong remains largely dependent on arrivals from China, but new themed events organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board helped draw in visitors from Indonesia, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and...

New location for the National History Museum under the project “Bulgarian Louvre”

The idea for the National History Museum to be moved from Boyana residence into the Central Department Store (Tzum) is about to be realized.

The offer came from the director of the museum, Bozhidar Dimitrov, 3 years ago. According to his words, the National History Museum is one of the most visited in Sofia and will attract much more tourists if its location is in the central part of the capital.

Until now, the museum has been visited in Boyana residence, but its distance from the center...

Archaeological treasures displayed at Serdica II subway station

After the opening of the second Serdica subway line on 31st of August, citizens as well as tourists have the great opportunity to enjoy an unusual exhibition of ancient pottery and other excavations in Serdica subway station in Sofia.
New excavations, have been made outside the metro station, in the top center of the Bulgarian capital. They reveal the remains of ancient fortress walls, towers and ancient streets.
Many of the discovered artefacts are displayed behind glass walls in the subway...

Lesnovo hosts unique International Air Show this weekend.
The event is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the first Bulgarian flight over the country.
This is the first international aerobatics contest in Bulgaria, gathering pilots from the U.K., Slovenia, Serbia, Croatia and Bulgaria.
