One of the attractions of Sofia, the ice skating rink in the Ariana lake in the “Borissova gradina” park next to the Orlov Most (Eagles' Bridge) was opened on 12 December 2009.
The total area of the ice skating rink in Ariana lake is 1600 sq m. It is the biggest open ice rink on the Balkans.
The ice rink will be open 24 hours a day. The price per hour is 3 leva during the working days and 4 leva at weekends. Children can skate for free every day between 8am and 10 am.

The legendary US rock band ZZ TOP will stage a concert in Bulgaria's capital Sofia on October 21, 2009 as part of their Double Down Live tour.
This will be ZZ TOP's first performance in the Balkan country, and will take place at Sofia's Akademik.

Hungarian no-frills airline Wizz Air will fly to four new destinations from Sofia airport, said executive vice-president John Stephenson.
As of May 22, 2010, the carrier will carry out three flights a week to Madrid, Paris, Frankfurt and Bologna, with one-way fares starting from BGN 33.99 with taxes, excluding luggage, insurance and bank transfer surcharges.
