Arena di Serdica - The newest Sofia Hotel

On 25 Jan 2007 the official opening of Arena di Serdica, the jewel of FPI Hotels & Resorts took place. The cocktail party was held under the lovely sounds of classical music, played by virtuoso quartet. The comfort of the guests was completed by the kind attention of the hosts of the event. The representatives of the tourist agencies, the medias and the special guests, who attended the grand opening, were offered a typical Bulgarian bread cake “pita” at the entrance of the hotel. Further in the lobby bar, a great variety of fresh fruit, appetizers and aromatic wines was offered.

A special info tour of the hotel was organized for all guests of the event so that they could see the large, luxurious rooms, the nice panorama restaurant and the cosy and elegantly designed spa complex.

Definitely the greatest accent of the ceremony was stressed on the fact that Arena di Serdica is actually built over the ruins of the Roman amphitheatre of Antique Serdica. All the visitors, of course had the unique chance to see these ruins. The Amphitheatre of Arena di Serdica is one the most significant archeological findings in Sofia. The theatre was found during the construction works and that is how it was included as a real treasure within the hotel. Many archeological improvements have been made since then in terms of conservation and prevention of the cultural and the historical heritage of Bulgaria.

In a word – Arena di Serdica is not only a high class and elegant hotel, but also a unique piece of art, which does not have analogue in the whole world. The remains from the ancient walls of the amphitheatre are artistically combined with SPA & Wellness facilities in the underground level of Arena di Serdica. The relax hall is constructed and decorated as in real Roman style, so that the guests can spiritually carry themselves in the world of the ancient Roman noblemen.

At the official opening the antique arena became stage for the hosts of the event and the music quartet. From the unique ancient stage the management team and the personnel of the hotel wished success to each other. Later on prize lottery was conducted and many prizes, including weekend for two in Santa Marina Holiday Village and spa procedures pass were given to the guests.
